IRCU Supported OVC in Jinja Graduate

30 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCS) have been passed out in Jinja Catholic Diocese, one of the 37 Faith Based Organisations  supported by IRCU to implement OVC Program. The OVC graduated with skills in Garment making and design, hair dressing, catering, carpentry and brick laying after one year of intense training.

The OVCs were passed out during a graduation ceremony that took place at the Diocese  Parish Hall on 22nd June 2012. They were passed out by Father Alex Okello Who represented the Bishop of the Diocese, as he  was out of the country at the time. The Manager for HIV/AIDS and Public Health , OVC program officer and communications Assistant represented IRCU .

During the pass out ceremony,   the OVCs were given Tool kits to help them start their own small   scale business enterprises. Addressing the grandaunts, the Manager HIV/AIDS and Public Health  Mrs. Jackie Katana Beinomugisha urged them to know what they want in life, put what they have learnt in practice so as to avoid HIV/AIDS and should portray a good picture of Jinja Diocese.

Representing the Bishop, the guest of Honor father Alex Okello hailed IRCU for the help they extend to vulnerable children and specifically thanked the organization for not embezzling the money meant to help Orphans.

The Diocesan Health Coordinator and also the coordinator of OVC training in Jinja Dorcus Musubaha asked IRCU to increase on the number of OVCs they train in vocational skills since they have a high number of children applying for help but are limited by funds.

‘’ for example we have got 70 applicants for this year but we have to take only 30’’ Dorcus said
