IRCU congratulates the new Archbishop

The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda has congratulated the new Archbishop of the Church of Uganda the Rt. Rev. Stanley Ntagali who takes over from outgoing Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi this coming December 2012. He was elected by the House of Bishops, comprising of leaders of the 34 dioceses in the country on Friday June 22nd.

Addressing the media at IRCU offices at Namirembe, the Council’s Secretary General Mr. Joshua Kitakule, congratulated the elected Archbishop and welcomed him to the council of presidents. Rt. Rev. Ntagali will succeed Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi as a member of the Council of presidents of IRCU on 16th December 2012 when he is fully enthroned as the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda.

We are excited here at IRCU over the appointment of Rt. Rev. Stanley Ntagali as the new Archbishop. We are happy to receive a successor who is interested in our work especially issues of peace, justice, and governance, HIV/AIDS and the well fare of all Ugandans. We believe that his election will add value to the work of IRCU in Uganda. We congratulate the house of Bishops for electing among themselves a team leader who will work to develop the church and indeed the whole country.’’ Joshua said.
