National inter-denominational prayers begin this weekend

We would like to inform you and remind you that this weekend, on Friday, 25th September, all the Muslims in the country will be praying for peaceful and violence-free elections. They will also thank Allah for Uganda’s 53rd independence anniversary that we shall be celebrating soon.

This will be followed by prayers by the Seventh-day Adventists on Saturday 26th September; and the Catholics, Anglicans, Orthodox, Pentecostal, Evangelical and all the other Christians on Sunday, 27th September. We shall all be thanking God for Uganda’s 53 years of independence and also pray for peaceful and violence-free elections.

We also wish to announce that on 3rd October 2015, IRCU in partnership with the Electoral Commission and UNDP, has organized a National Prayer Day at the Kololo Independence Grounds. Presidential aspirants, political parties, ministers, members of parliament, cultural leaders, civil society and the general public are all going to attend the prayers, which will begin at 9:00 am.

All Ugandans, irrespective of faith, are welcome to take part in the prayers.  Similarly, the national prayers at Kololo are intended to thank God for the 53 years of Uganda’s Independence, and also pray for peaceful and violence-free elections in Uganda.
