National prayer Day set

National prayer Day set

The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) has set 3rd October as the day for this year’s interdenominational prayers for peaceful and violence free elections.

The prayers scheduled for 3rd October, 2015, at Kololo Independence Grounds will also be a thanksgiving for Uganda’s 53 years of independence.

According to the IRCU Secretary General, Mr. Joshua Kitakule, the prayers which will begin at 9:00 am, are open to all Ugandans regardless of faith. “IRCU is still in the process of deciding on who will lead the prayers,” he said.

However, before the national prayers, the different faith networks, i.e. Muslims, Catholics, Anglicans, Seventh Day Adventists (SDA), Orthodox Christians and Pentecostals, will also have prayers for the same in their respective worship places.

The Muslims will have their prayers on Friday 25th September, the SDA on Saturday 26th and the other Christians will pray on Sunday 27th September, at their respective places of worship.
