IRCU to develop a Training Manual for FBO instructors.

The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) is in the process of developing a comprehensive Training Manual for use by Faith Based Organizations’ (FBO)’s. As part of this process, a three-day consultative workshop (July 16-18, 2012) was organized for 30 instructors of apprenticeship and vocational training selected from Faith Based Organizations currently supported by IRCU.

The workshop was also attended by staff from IRCU secretariat and was facilitated by senior instructors: Nuwagira Richard and Ahmed Matovu from Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT), a unit of Ministry of Education and Sports charged with overseeing vocational training curriculum development, assessment and certification. The workshop took place at Tal Cottages in Kampala.

IRCU embarked on developing a comprehensive Training Manual for FBO’s after observations that since the inception of the Orphans and Vulnerable Children Program (OVC), there was no standard training manual or guidelines that can be used by instructors across all supported FBOs.
