Religious leaders affiliated to the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) kicked off a series of launches of the renewal of IRCU’s commitment to nation-building in Uganda in 17 regions of the country. The launches are being officiated by the Council of Presidents of IRCU. So far, the renewal of commitment has been launched in three regions: Rwenzori, Bunyoro and Elgon. Other launches scheduled for November 2013 include the one in West Nile, Acholi and Lango Regions.

In his opening remarks the Secretary General of IRCU, Mr. Joshua Kitakule, highlighted the role of religious leaders in Uganda’s nation-building process since the nineteenth century, and he stressed the need for them to redouble and refine their efforts in the face of current challenges.
